Drive Toward a Cure
In 2015, I began my fundraising journey for Parkinson's Disease. My grandfather was originally diagnosed when I was fairly young. At the time, I was racing go karts, and my home town put on a huge car show and fundraising event for Parkinson's - the Danville d'Elegance Foundation. Between my passion for motorsport and a family afflication, I had the perfect opportunity to help give back.
Over the next few years, I didn't expect another family member of mine to also be diagnosed. My uncle was hit with both Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia. While my grandfather's illness was the "garden variety," my Uncle's progressed much more rapidly. In 2020, my Uncle passed away due to his diseases, and in 2021, my grandfather passed as well.
They always loved coming to watch my races growing up, and I'm so fortunate that they were able to see me race on the national stage. I wish they could have been around to see what I've done since then.
When someone in your family is diagnosed, it becomes a family affair. Close family members become caregivers, and sacrifice much of their life for others. Everyone I have met in the Parkinson's community are the most wonderful people who all care deeply about finding a way to work toward a common goal. In college, I found it tough to stay active in my charitable causes local to my hometown, but luckily I was introduced to some amazing people here at Drive Toward a Cure. I hope to help raise awareness for this disease that impacts more people than most realize - and bring us one step closer to finding a proper cure.
Every dollar goes straight to a leading Parkinson's organization and to helping those in need. If you choose to donate, you'll receive a tax receipt right away by email. Please, join me on the road to ending Parkinson's and help us raise further awareness. Thank you!
