Drive Toward a Cure
April is Parkinson's Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about and saluting the challenges and advancements in managing Parkinson's disease. Gary Rogliano, founder and chairman of Power Over Parkinson’s (“POP”), a nonprofit organization based in Richmond, VA. was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2018. Shortly after diagnosis, he quickly realized that Richmond was in need of vital resources for people to live well with the disease. Gary, alongside his daughter, Margaret Preston, President of POP, ultimately transformed his diagnosis into a mission to support others navigating the same journey.
Through the foundation, Gary and Margaret have created a vibrant community that provides free exercise, education, and socialization for people with Parkinson's. Gary's story, from his successful business career to his passionate advocacy for Parkinson's care, is not only inspiring but also action-oriented, as it’s positively impacted hundreds of people with the disease. POP is passionate about the importance of exercise in managing symptoms, the impact of community support, and the access to comprehensive care beyond the clinical setting.
