DRIVESHARE BY HAGERTY TAKES THE SCENIC ROUTE TO YOSEMITE
AS 2ND YEAR SPONSOR FOR NON-PROFIT DRIVE TOWARD A CURE

Curated California Car Collection Adds Nationwide Appeal to Annual Multi-Day Rally Supporting Parkinson’s Disease

LOS ANGELES, February 21, 2019 – Now in its second year, DriveShare by Hagerty – the premiere car sharing community for cars you want to drive – continues to sponsor non-profit Drive Toward a Cure in their ongoing efforts to support Parkinson’s Disease research and patient care. Continued alignment between the two will see support during the entire month of April – Parkinson’s Awareness Month – and include creating a curated collection of Northern California-based DriveShare vehicles for the May 16-19, 2019 ‘California Adventure’ (www.drivetowardacure.org/california-adventure-2019).

According to Steve Haas, senior manager of operations for DriveShare by Hagerty, offering the chance to experience such a wide range of fun and unique vehicles makes a rally such as the Drive Toward a Cure ‘California Adventure’ – or any drive! – so much more interesting. “Entrants from a nationwide enthusiast base now have the opportunity to attend this amazing event, often less expensively than shipping their own car, and with the added benefit of experiencing the journey in a vehicle like one they may be considering or may only dream of owning,” said Haas.

A hand-picked collection for the ‘California Adventure’ in May includes vehicles with a wide range of prices and performance, including a Bentley GTC-S, Porsche Boxster, Mercedes Benz E400 Cabriolet, Honda S2000, Sunbeam Tiger, and a vintage 1966 Corvette. These and other cars have been pre-approved for the added mileage covered during the ‘California Adventure’ though others in the DriveShare collection may also be available – please see www.drivetowardacure.org/driveshare for more info. Additionally, DriveShare by Hagerty will donate their portion of the rental fees to Drive Toward a Cure.

In support of Parkinson’s Awareness Month this spring, DriveShare is once again committing to donate $10 from each rental day booked during the month of April to Drive Toward a Cure. This applies to all vehicles ranging from classics to exotics, regardless of the purpose, from its nationwide collection at www.driveshare.com.

The upcoming ‘California Adventure’ is a four-day, three-night luxury rally that for the third year will provide a weekend of drives, relaxation, camaraderie, great food, great roads, a competitive special stage driving test, and memorable stops along the way including private tours of priceless car collections. This year’s signature event will begin in the San Jose region, with registration, tour and lunch at the Canepa Motorsports Collection and on to the private John Mozart Foundation Automobile Museum. The first overnight stay will be at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, with two additional nights at Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite, where the scenic adventure will continue and focus on the iconic Yosemite National Park.

Deb Pollack, founder of Drive Toward a Cure, along with her ‘partner in cause’ Mark Davidson of Toronto-based Intelliga Communications, created the series of driving events in late 2016 to honor her mother who had been challenged by Parkinson’s and passed away ten years prior, in 2006. For more information on all of their programs, visit www.drivetowardacure.org.

Since its inception, Drive Toward a Cure has raised nearly $200,000 to contribute to both the Michael J. Fox Foundation and the Parkinson’s Institute and Clinical Center, providing financial assistance for both research and patient programs. Pollack, whose mantra for the organization is to blend cars and camaraderie, is expanding her organization’s efforts to include localized programs within nationally recognized driving clubs and driving schools. During the past year, grassroots programs collectively raised enough funds to foster a ‘California Wildfire Grant Fund’ supporting California residents with Parkinson’s that had been affected by the recent devastating fires in late 2018. Successful applicants received funds in late January 2019.

DriveShare is one of Hagerty’s many products and services designed For People Who Love Cars. Hagerty is also home to industry-leading classic and collector vehicle insurance, valuation tools and market insight, award-winning automotive content and lifestyle gear for enthusiasts.

As the Drive Toward a Cure program grows within the automotive community, all levels of car devotees are encouraged to join through participation and/or donation, and can create their own grassroots ‘Drive Toward a Cure Day’ – learn more at www.drivetowardacure.org/drive-toward-a-cure-days.

Drive Toward a Cure is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, with events that are carefully designed to provide a premium experience while raising much-needed funds to continue the search for a Parkinson’s cure, through beneficiaries The Michael J. About Parkinson’s Disease:

Parkinson’s Disease (PD) is a chronic and progressive movement disorder, meaning that physical symptoms continue and worsen over time. Nearly one million people in the US are living with Parkinson’s disease. The cause is unknown, and although there is presently no cure, there are treatment options such as medication and surgery to manage its symptoms.
